Care

‘Young people receive outstanding levels of individual support, guidance and care. Relationships between staff and young people are professional and respectful. It is clear that the culture of the school promotes the empowerment of young people.’
Ofsted Care Inspection 2011

We provide an environment where our residential students can enjoy the benefits of living in a vibrant, friendly community where their individual needs are recognised and provided for.

During their time at Hamilton Lodge School and College the students make friendships which carry on throughout their lives. They develop the skills they need to become well rounded independent young people ready to take their place in the adult world . They gain the confidence to make choices based on the valuable experience and knowledge gained during their time in our supportive and nurturing environment.

The residential part of the school is divided into three ‘houses’. No.1 for the boys, No.15 for the girls and No.11 accommodates older students and provides them with increased opportunities to develop independent living skills. All residential pupils and students have the use of the school gym in the evenings and the all-weather pitch under staff supervision.

Parents and carers are encouraged to keep in regular contact with their children at the school. Young people can use the minicom at any reasonable time. We also have facilities to use fax and e-mail in each house.

There is a surgery based at No.1 house where young people can receive medical treatment or advice. There are also two single rooms in the sick bay off the surgery. The school nurse is available on a daily basis and holds a surgery every lunch-time.
