‘The school gives young people an opportunity to experience education and school life as a positive part of their lives. Many positive comments were made by the young people such as; “I love my life here at school”.

We work hard to make sure that every child receives teaching to meet their individual needs;
- Before starting at the school pupils and their carers visit the school, then pupils attend for a school day, and an overnight stay if they are going to board. We also visit the pupil at their primary school so that we can learn more about them. These visits are vital to helping ensure that each child settles successfully into the school.
- We focus our curriculum development on accreditations that match the needs of individual pupils. We offer a range of GCSE, Entry Level, Unit and Signature Award courses.
- We have a well established Work Experience Programme and Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, both of which focus on individuals being able to build their independence skills, confidence and self-esteem.
- We have good links with local colleges and our year 11 students attend courses which prepare them for Further Education.
- We provide FE places in partnership with City College Brighton & Hove.
- Our pupil support team ensures that pupils have focussed support including careful deployment of teaching assistants.
- Pupils have direct access to their individual targets so they can monitor their progress in discussion with their class tutor.
