Hamilton Lodge has been very successful in supporting pupils to achieve the Duke of Edinburgh award at both bronze and silver level. Pupils from years 10 and 11 and students from our F.E. college participate.
The values of the award scheme, of independence, problem solving, community participation and rising to achieve personal and team challenges match ours. Participating in the Duke of Edinburgh award is a fun and valuable personal development programme.
Pupils work both alone and in groups, and they get the chance to learn new skills and experience new situations.
The award in divided into 4 sections:
- Physical challenge
The expedition part of the award takes the the students out to the South Downs, where pupils have to work as team and make their decisions independently of adult supervision.
